Things I'm Loving & Learning - Summer 2023
Body recomp - building muscle and losing body fat. Ayurvedic oil for hair health. My new favorite nervous system regulation technique. Two great fiction books. CPTSD and epigentic resources.
One thing that’s top of my interest and study list this summer is anything and everything to do with muscle-centric medicine, lifting heavy weights for mid-life hormone support, and anti-aging. Body recomp (losing body fat while gaining skeletal muscle) for longevity and disease prevention. Eating optimal (high levels of protein), and the profound importance of Omega-3 fats to prevent and slow the progression of cognitive decline. Essentially all things brain health, sleep hygiene, and more.
I’ve found four podcasts that cover these topics really well. All are hosted by brilliant women who are also doctors, Ph.D. research scientists, and an elite athlete. I scroll through their show archives and select an episode to listen to for an hour while I walk, drive, or sit outside in the sunshine. Each time I listen, I learn things that most people are totally unaware of — I’m getting top notch functional medical lectures without a high priced medical school tuition cost.
Below is a brief overview of my favorite (and I believe the best) podcasts on these topics with my suggestions on which episode to listen to first.
