Low to no estrogen feels horrible!
I knew what low progesterone (connected to GABA) felt like — anxiety and insomnia. But I’d never experienced low estrogen until I turned 50 and my estrogen levels plummeted. Low estrogen (connected to serotonin), presented for me as bone-crippling fatigue, severe body aches, lethargy, general malaise, and a 20-pound weight gain.
A massive drop in estrogen is a normal physiological response as our body approaches menopause. But by the time I had my labs run, my estradiol didn’t even register on the lab test.
